9 Cool Ways To Decorate A Room
Today I’ve been cleaning my house like a mad woman and rearranging furniture according to the rules of Feng Shui! I actually really love cleaning - is that weird? It gives me such a buzz! So as I was wiping dust away and getting my creative side into gear, I was thinking of some cool decorating ideas. Here are the best 9 ideas I could think of;

1. Fabric Ceilings - Okay, so it’s probably going to be really hard to make your house look like one of these photos, but you get the idea. Draping fabric from your ceiling creates a comfortable and almost regal atmosphere. You could try hanging sarongs or metres of your favourite fabric from corner to corner until the entire ceiling is covered. This works best with high ceilings as it won’t over crowd the room.
2. Window Clings - I remember making some of my own window clings in school with an ‘under the sea’ theme. They’re so fun to make and are especially cool in kid’s rooms. The good thing is they peel right off and can be moved around. Here’s a nifty website which tells you how to make your own and gives you a few creative ideas, too! You could also stick them on jars, the refrigerator or pretty much anything made from glass.

3. Stencil Stickers - These stickers seem to be gaining popularity within the last few years and no wonder why - they look awesome! I found some really cool designs at Ferm Living (like the one shown above) and at Vinyl Wall Art . I want these all over my house!
4. Fairy lights - The most important aspect of interior decorating is lighting. It can make or break a room. I think fairy lights, when used appropriately, can be hung in any room. They create a comfortable and fun atmosphere. Every time I have a party I go crazy with the fairy lights. I tend to play this song in my head when I think of them, but I assure you they can be used tastefully!
5. Fabric Art - Now here’s a really inexpensive way to decorate a wall. Buy some of your favourite fabric and staple them on a few canvases (or you could use polystyrofoam). VoilĂ ! You are now an artiste!
6. Glow-in-the-dark Solar System - Yup! Things that glow in the dark still make me grin from ear to ear. I found some really awesome stuff at the Space Store!
7. Plants/flowers - Fresh flowers instantly liven up a room. A lot of real estate agents ask their clients to add flowers to their homes before there’s an inspection from potential buyers. They can make a house a home. Personally, I have indoor plants instead of cut flowers as they last longer.

8. Inspiration Strings - Add a couple strings across a room and peg your favourite photos, postcards or magazine pictures, ala Gala Darling style! It’s a great alternative to boring photo frames. You might also want to hang some Tibetan prayer flags too, as they add a burst of colour.

9. Blackboard & chalk - I really want a blackboard in my kitchen. It’ll be so good to have a space dedicated to writing down the shopping list! And not only that, but it’ll release the creative artist in you and your guests! Moores Blackboards can actually custom make your board - how cool is that?!
Big love,

Trouble with fabric ceilings is dust. The Magritte effect is good though.
