Nail Art & The 1940’s Dress-up

Okay, I know they look a little cheap and nasty, but that’s what happens when you’re not a professional manicurist. They kind of remind me of a deck of cards. A deck of heart cards, that is. Just add some ridiculously rude red nail polish, use your 1982 cassette tape of Annie (man, I loved that movie, “the sun’ll come out, tomorrow!“) as a palette, bend the crap out of a bobby pin (as this will be your paint brush), and then avoid breathing as you don’t want to mess up the hearts! Surprisingly, I drew better hearts with my left hand (I’m right handed). I think maybe they’d look cooler if the hearts were bigger, no? Or maybe a black background with a red heart…?

I also found an awesome video tutorial on how to create 1940’s victory rolls (I love that girl’s style). She made it look so easy, but as I found, they’re quite hard to achieve! I couldn’t quite put the ‘roll’ in victory roll, it’s more of a victory scrunch. The sides and back looked absolutely terrible! But I’m definitely going to practise this hair-do, as I love it so much. Nevertheless, I had to share my mini 1940’s dress-up pics. (Please excuse the Hendrix poster in the background - I’m getting eras confused!)

While I’m on the topic of the 1940’s, I thought I’d share a couple of photos (I love looking at old photos!). This is my grandmother, Ivy, holding my mum with my aunt and uncle. Totally straight from the mid-40’s. How cute is my mum?!
