Artist Of The Week - Ilana Yahav
There’s something so beautiful about the impermanence of sand art. It takes just a few seconds to create this intricate masterpiece and then it’s destroyed in a matter of seconds too.
The Israeli sand animation artist, Ilana Yahav, has boosted the awareness of sand art in her many YouTube videos, with all of them receiving hundreds of thousands of views. She not only delves into sand animation, but she also loves to sculpt, sketch and work with all kinds of three dimensional art.
Yahav lets her fingers dance and draw a story in sync to the (usually classical) background music which creates a relaxed and serene atmosphere. She has even created “Baby Sandy” which is a video of cute little sand animations which accompany the soothing music to illuminate the imaginations of babies and children. She performs live with her sand light-box projected on a huge screen for the audience to see. One audience member said watching her show was like meditating. She has also recently created three TV commercials, all in one take, for Quest.
Check out these videos and absorb the magic!
Big love & sand castles,
Ivy
