I finally found the perfect postcard for my friend. It’s creepy, peculiar and cool - exactly what I like! It’s called, Lots of things in the Woods eat Bunnies - heheeee! Check out the beady eyes in the background, they’re ready to pounce!

Artist Of The Week - JME Pool

The creator of these engaging pieces of art is JME Pool. Her website is called Dolly Did It, which instantly arouses an image of a psychotic little girl slashing her teddy bears open (or is that just me?…) Her art encompasses thoughts, memories and moral commentary surrounding childhood and adolescence, and also the question of whether peccancy exist within us all. But it’s not all doom and gloom, JME also includes an element of cuteness and hope within her pieces. Sometimes hope is in the form of sprouting mushrooms, a bluebird or balloons released into the atmosphere. Some pieces made me giggle because I could relate to the subject matter. And some pieces depict the darker side of childhood.

Her work has been published in various magazines, on postcards, CD sleeves and she also has private collections in Australia, Belgium and the USA. You can actually buy a couple of her pieces at this site. And admirably, she’s also linked to the Abused Child Trust.

Here are a few of my favourites which I think clearly display JME’s objectives;
