Artist Of The Week - Virgo Paraiso

Cancion de Amor

Artists are story tellers. They write words and sentences with brush strokes and ink, and Virgo Paraiso, (who really is a Virgo!) 33, tells stories of the land in which he grew up in. He was born near Sierra Madre, home of the Tarahumara people of Chihuahua, Mexico, where he was surrounded by forests, waterfalls, and the Tarahumara people whose stories of creation and the spirit world would later influence his work.

He spent many years in Japan and Hawaii, where the contrasts of elaborate architecture and exotic Polynesian culture would add to his thirst of illustrating the urban and natural worlds as one. Through metamorphoses and hybridism, his fantasy art depict the connectedness between human kind and nature, in peaceful scenes of what he sees as paradise. A paradise in which creatures and their surroundings work in unison and are essentially the same.

Paraiso’s work sends beautiful and enlightened messages, and his attention to detail, complex composition, and use of colour, takes admirers to an unimaginable utopia full of beauty and harmony.

Children of the Night                                              Virgo’s Paradise

You have to take a look at his website - it’s art in itself! When you click on the homepage, tranquil sounds from the rainforest, of birds and water, emanate from your speakers - it’s absolutely beautiful, I’ve had it playing for hours now. If you like, you can also check out Virgo’s myspace page here.

Are you in love with Virgo’s spiritual and harmonious paradise?

Big love & air kisses,
