Creating Homemade Greeting Cards

I absolutely love making cards for my friends and family. I find it so much fun and even therapeutic. Today I made a birthday card for my friend, Gabi (I really hope she’s not reading this…) It’s a crazy collage of things that remind me of her; fairies, love, disco balls, stars (because she is a star) and lots of colour! My friends and I almost always make our own cards and I wouldn’t have it any other way. It’s so personal and heart-warming to receive a homemade card that you know someone has put time and effort into.

Throughout the year I collect funky pictures from music magazines, wrapping paper, newspapers and even packaging. It’s a very cool way to recycle, too!

All you need is some cardboard (sometimes I use cereal boxes), glue, scissors, pictures and other little embellishments like feathers, buttons, sequins, glitter, pom-poms, bells and whatnot.

Or you could get really creative and make a pop-up card, a photo frame card, a decoupage card, or even a clay card! (Damn, I really should have googled these card ideas before, because now I really want to make a pop-up card!) There’s heaps of other cool ideas over at the Card Making World.

Do you make cards for your loved ones on special occasions too? Do you prefer to receive homemade gifts and cards or ones that’ve been bought?

Big love & craft glue,
