Okay, well not anything and everything, but pretty much anything that isn’t ridiculously large. Although giant clocks were pretty cool in the hip-hop scene, so never say never, right? I was doing my usual browsing through Etsy (god, I love Etsy) and came across some necklaces that had me thinking, “man, I could make that!”

Making Necklaces From Household Items

Left to right: Glitter Necklace, Spoonful of Sugar, Mini Harmonica Necklace, Scissors Necklace

Well, I must say, unless you have a beautiful gold spoon laying around, the Spoonful of Sugar necklace may be hard to make. But it acts as a good example. The others… well, will be a lot easier to replicate.

Most of the pendants I saw were just everyday, household items, so I was wondering what I had laying around which I could make into a necklace too. I also love jewellery which has two roles; one, to look spectacular and two, that has a useful function. All you need is a chain and maybe one little screw-in picture frame hook. If you can jam that sucker into a potential pendant then you’re in business, baby! Here’s what I came up with (see below); nail-clippers (hmmm… not sure about that one, but you get my drift), a Rubik’s cube (these sold like hot cakes in my eBay store!), a mini egg beater, an old brooch, a little tub of liquid eyeshadow, a cassette tape (if you still own one of these!), mini perfume bottle and a key. I’ve actually left the chain on the key, I think that’s my favourite out of the lot.
