Pretty Please, With A Cherry On Top?
Lately I’ve taken a liking to all things rockabilly. I love the pinup styled hair, the kinky femininity, the subtle sensuality, the immaculate style, the polka dot stockings, sling back wedges, leopard prints and red lipstick - va-va-voom! Some of the pinup images make me want to get tattooed sleeves and pose like Betty Boop. One of the key aspects to looking like a spicy pinup is to add some cherries. I have no idea where the connection between rockabilly and cherries meet (maybe you could tell me?), but it works so well. My only experience with the taste of cherries was when I made my own formal/prom dress back in 1999. It was white with cherries printed all over and I prided myself on the fact it cost me $14 while other girls were paying hundreds. Ah, memories… But now I want to re-visit cherry heaven and indulge in some pinup accessories! Here are a few fruity vestments I found in eBay, Etsy and My Vintage Hut.

1.Gingham Cherries Hair Clip; 2.Cherrylicious Black Hair Stix; 3.First Cherries Baby Swallow necklace; 4.Cherry Heart Mirror Compacts; 5.Cherries/Dots belt Buckle

6.Sparrow & Cherries Pinup Hair Fascinator; 7.Sweet Summer Cherry Sundress; 8.Swarovski & Molded Copper Fascinator; 9.Sugary Sweet Cherry Ear Bobs
Here’s my take on the whole cherry pinup look. Sweetheart necklines, pencil skirts, a dash of leopard print and some kick arse cat-eye sunglasses scream rockabilly. And the outfit isn’t complete without a little puppy and a sundae that looks like it’s straight out of a 50’s diner! *drool*

You can find a tonne of rockabilly inspiration at Babygirl Boutique - it’s like a 1950’s time warp in there, I love it!

I haven’t seen cherries a lot on anything lately, but I have to agree they are pretty cool looking!

[…] The site certainly has many articles all written in Ivy’s own very readable and very affable style. In her catalogue she has Advice, How-tos, Beauty tips, a food section and an Artist of the week feature and more. This connoisseur of all things alternative also shares lots of great links to all sort of sites and personal tips on everything from online shopping to making your own greeting cards. Something Ivy uses a lot on her site and which is very reminiscent of every woman’s magazine you love is her wee spreads of pictures she has collected from around the web to accompany certain articles, like her spot-on take on “the whole cherry pinup look”.
