Here in Australia, it’s Autumn and it’s getting rather cold. Right now I have 2 pairs of socks, a long skirt, leggings, top, jacket, scarf, fingerless gloves and beanie on - yes, I look like a crazy woman, but a crazy woman on a mission! I realise that summer is coming up on the other side of the world, which means sun, tans, beach and swim wear. I’m sure you want to be looking your best and showing off your fine self. So, what’s the best swimsuit for you body shape? Well, I’ve come up with a few ideas for smaller busted women, bigger busted women, women with a long body shape and women with short legs or torso. Let’s check them out!

The Smaller Busted Woman

Oh, you lucky thing! You get to wear as many bows, ruffles and brightly coloured bikinis as you like! Bandeau tops work great on you, as do ruffled and patterned bikinis because they add weight to your bust. Try to buy a bikini or bathing suit which has padded cups or under-wire to give your girls some shape. Make sure you buy a bikini top which ties around the neck and back to create a perfect fit. If you want to maximise your bust but minimise your hips, buy separates! A darker bottom matched with a patterned top will do the trick. (Click on picture for product information).

The Bigger Busted Woman

The main issue for the bigger busted woman is support. You have to treat your girls well! Solid coloured swimsuits with under-wires are great for you. As are suits with thick straps. You don’t want to opt for any sort of strapless suit and these create sagging and aren’t comfortable. Halter necks are rather sexy on a bigger bust as they create some cleavage and oomph! Again, if you’d like to minimise your bust and accentuate your boot-ay, buy separates. A solid coloured top with a patterned bottom will create the illusion of a more symmetrical figure. The Long Body Shape

Rings, ties, bright colours, horizontal stripes, patterns - all work beautifully! Cut-out swimsuits are hot! And because you probably have a long torso, a cut-out swimsuit will break up the mid section. Do you have super long legs? Then you might not want to go for high-cut suits as they’ll add an extra 5 inches or so. If you have narrow hips then opt for some 1950’s style boylegs. (Click on picture for product information).

The Short Body Shape

So you’ve probably got little legs, no? Ahh, so do I! Well, the best option to lengthen those pins is to buy high-cut bottoms. Now it doesn’t have to look like this, but at least avoid the boyleg-shorts. A one piece swimsuit with a plunging neckline (like the one pictured) will also create a lengthened look. You might also want to look at buying dark, solid coloured bottoms with a patterned top as this draws the eye upwards. (Click on picture for product information).

Tips!

! If you have broad shoulders then you might want to stay away from halter necks. They only accentuate them.

! Shopping online for swimwear is a bit risky. Just like underwear and bras, you want to make sure you have the perfect fit and proper support.

! If all this is too hard to figure out then look at tankinis - they’re pretty much flattering on everyone, plus you can mix and match the separates!
