Spring/Summer 2008: Saturated Colour

Ah, finally a trend that I really dig - saturated colours. I’m not much of a ‘must wear x because it’s so hot right now’ person, but if I love a new trend then I’ll take it on board. The collage above is Marie Claire’s Child’s Play photo shoot which I think looks hawt! I especially love that yellow ‘ruler’ skirt and those baby pink brogues (I’m a little obsessed with brogues at the moment). Now I also have the urge to play on a slide.

So the idea of wearing saturated, block coloured pieces is to wear contrasting heels, belts and other accessories. Think India and jelly beans! Another emerging trend this year is the good ol’ cut-out dress. Which is very 80’s to me, but the distinction between then and now is the shape of the dress. The 80’s pieces were rather shapeless, but now, feminine and tailored dresses which hug your body shape, off the shoulder and one shoulder strapped pieces are the new cool.

Here are a few examples of the bold dress and contrasting heel. Silk and jersey is becoming popular, too. And did I hear about a resurgence of an Asian theme…? It felt like we just had that yesterday! (Click picture for product information.)

Season Trend: saturated block colours

Here are some examples of the casual approach to vibrancy. I’m really digging those wedges in the middle there. They’re very ‘Spice Girls met Tokyo street’ style. (Click picture for product information.)

If everyone wore this much colour everyday it would make me one happy chappy! I can’t wait to see some peeps dig into the playful side of colour.

Sunshine, lollipops & rainbows,

P.S. Check out my new RSS button in the sidebar. Roll your mouse over it. Go on, do it! It makes me smile. You could have fun for hours with that thing!
