Typical 1970’s Outfits
Ahhh, it’s that time of the week when I jump into my time machine and report back with typical outfits from the 70’s. I found that the 60’s and 70’s tend to blend into one another - a lot - but I did find some very distinct differences too; psychedelia, platform shoes, 3 piece suits and customised items. Somehow I feel - and I know a lot of you will agree with me - that I was born 30 years too late. I wish I was born in the 40’s just so I could’ve experienced the 60’s and 70’s in my “prime time”. I guess people born in 30 years will be saying the same about our era, right? My grandchildren will ask “what was it like?!”, and I’ll say, “ah, I remember the noughties, it was a time of internet addiction, obesity and global warming- my how things have changed.” Okay, enough day-dreaming Ivy, let’s have a look at some typical 70’s gear!

70’s Hippie - Julia changed her name to ‘Moondust’ when a wise Indian chief said she would become the leader of an important group of people. She always thought she would be a politician but 20 years later she realised it was being the mother of her 5 children; Herbert, Violet, Indigo, Pixie and Lennon. 70’s Wild Child - Her name is Kachine, which is the American Indian name for ’sacred dancer’. She studied ballet until the age of 15, but then started to kick it with the wrong crowd and lost her passion for classical dance. She once shared laughing gas with Andy Warhol at Studio54. 70’s Musician - They call him ‘Psychedelic Simon’ because of his far-out beats and riffs that make your spine tingle. He never wakes up before noon and spends most of his day dreaming of meeting his idol, Jerry Garcia. (Click picture for product information).

70s Secretary - Mary arrived in America as an Italian immigrant. Even though her english isn’t perfect, she was offered the role of secretary at James Hardy. She’s smarter than her co-workers think she is. When money goes missing she’s the least suspected. (Click picture for product information).
