How To Make Bubble Mixture & Wand!

Photo by JeromesPOV
Ok, so I’m in my mid-twenties and I love blowing bubbles – so what!? You’re never too old to do it! In fact, I really think the word ‘old’ should be eradicated from our vocabulary - it only limits our fun! So, here’s how to make some bubble-icious bubble mix;
3 parts dishwashing liquid
7 parts hot water
1 part sugar - the secret ingredient!
Mix all contents together but don’t stir too much, you don’t want to see a lot of froth. For best results leave the mixture overnight - this produces stronger bubbles, therefore prolongs the bubbly-fun!

Well now you’re going to need a bubblicious wand. Let’s go crazy and make a giant wand! You’ll need;
A wire clothes hanger
Electrical tape
Cotton twine
Bend the clothes hanger into a circle (the rounder the circle the better the bubble), whilst leaving about 10cm either end for the handle.
Take the electrical tape, and tape the two ends together to make a study handle. You should now have something that looks like a tennis racquet.
Tape the end of the cotton twine to your handle, and continuously wrap around the round part of the clothes hanger until the entire circle is covered in twine (this is so the bubble mixture absorbs).
Tips!
- If you’re using a giant wand you might want to use a wide baking tray for your bubble mix.
- Add a tiny bit of red and yellow poster paint or tempera paint to your bubble mix and you’ll have multi-coloured bubbles!
Have fun!
Big love,

Ahh, I remember making bubbles at the daycare I worked at… so much fun! I thought I’d share a recipe I found when making a lesson plan one time…
Take a bowl and put some milk in it… put 1 drop of red food colouring in the milk, right along the side of the bowl. 1/3 of the way around from that, 1 drop yellow… 1/3 of the way from that, 1 drop blue. In the centre of the bowl, put one drop of dish detergent in the milk… and just watch; it’s amazing!

jameshigam - Meaning, they don’t last long and end up really messy?
Katie - You must tell me what happens! I don’t have any food colouring at the moment.. I’m guessing the detergent magnetises the colours..?

Watching it may be better… it’s kinda hard to describe… like moving tye-dye.
