Pretty As A Peacock
Hello, lovelies! I haven’t posted as much as I’d like to, because I’ve been terribly sick for the last few days. I think I had some sort of food poisoning because I hot and cold sweats, stomach cramps, and let’s just say, Johnny Cash’s ‘Ring of Fire‘ springs to mind… Yeah, I’m sure you know what I mean there. It feels like I’ve lost about 10 kilograms. But alas, after a long bath and sitting the sun, I feel sooo much better. So on with the show!
I don’t know about you, but I absolutely dig those el cheapo, $2 stores where nothing inside is actually $2. I went to one the other day and bought these huge peacock feathers, which were only a buck each, but now have no idea what to do with them! I was thinking of making some sort of headpiece, but that’s as far as my imagination will take me, and I can’t really see myself wearing a gigantic feather on my head very often. So, I did a wee bit of research and found some unique ways of incorporating peacock, or any other kind of feather for that matter, into your wardrobe!
Beautiful Satin Peacock Baby Burlesque Nipple Pasties by gothfoxdesigns, Peacock Bonanza Headpiece by dervishgirl, Peacock Feather Belt, Flower and Peacock Barrette by wildspirits, Navy Blue Suede Leather Bag with Peacock Feathers by stacyleigh, Prada Peacock skirt
If I had a headpiece that looked like dervishgirl’s, I would wear it everyday. I love that it isn’t the standard millinery piece you’d expect, it’s more of a Native American headpiece. At first, I thought the peacock feather belt was just a feather tucked into her skirt, which I think is a very simple but effective way to spice up an outfit - will definitely try that one! The barrette is so delicious, I want to eat it. You should check out the other designs wildspirits have - they’re all so colourful, I can’t decide what I love best! Placing a feather on your bag is a nifty idea, too. It adds personality to what would be quite an ordinary bag. I have no idea where or when I’d wear the Prada skirt, but it sure makes great eye-candy!
I first saw these amazing peacock tights in The Anchor, who fell in love with them, and I feel the same. If I could own only one pair of tights, it would be these. Do you think I could paint them on some old tights? I’m always looking for DIY’s. Or maybe I could just fork out the $29.99… (Click here for product information.)
When I saw this skirt I was inspired to make a peacock themed outfit. I love the greens, purple and rich, electric blue together. (Click here for product information.)
Do you have any other ideas for incorporating feathers into your wardrobe? Let us know in the comments!
Big love & peacock dancing,

Oh no foodpoising sucks but i hope you feel lots better. I have been feeling a bit dizzy and tired lately but i guess thats just because i have been working 40hrs-week at work the past couple of weeks.
But i think i would wear my peacock feathers in my new purple beret or just simply taped to a headband in my hair. (i’m having a Tiger Lily idea) And as for the tights oh they are wishlist-material but then have you seen these >> http://madamegigi.co.uk/shop/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=70 ^_^
Funny i was coming across this polyvore set yesterday http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/set?id=2647026 and i liked the theme. It reminded me of how many colours of green and blue mix together into something stunning! The ‘Satin Peacock Baby Burlesque Nipple Pasties’ is gorgeous, it would be a dare to wear it out with a gorgeous purple see trough dress or something

Food poisoning?! I’m so sorry to hear that, I’m glad you are feeling better!
And I love the peacock feather tucked into the belt idea. I love peacock feathers in general. I’d love to make earrings out of them, but I have no idea how to go about doing that.

Wow, I want that top, purse, ring and the eyelashes! That set is awesome. And now I really want a purple beret just so I can stick a peacock feather in it. Very chic.
And omg, I HAVE seen those tights!! They looked painted on, don’t they? I think they might beat the ones above

emma - Haha, I’m exactely the same. We’re bargain hunters, we can’t help it. Plus if that vase breaks, you don’t have to fret because it was only $2! Golden.

I think that you could use fabric paint, or markers and paint on an old pair of tights. Why not try it out? if you are successful, you could sell them - tights are still all the rage! Great entry - (linked by the one abut peacock earrings - thanks!)

Hello! I am loving the peacock trend happening too. I began making Feather Eyelashes a couple months ago and the peacock feathers are my favorite to work with. They are also the ones that sell the fastest. I only have one pair left that’s posted at http://www.capturedimagination.etsy.com but I should have more up next week. Thanks for the great blog.
