I wanted to dye my hair white for quite some time now, and I decided to embark on the journey last weekend. This is how it went; Friday - I bleached all of my hair. You would not believe how fast that stuff works and how dry my hair became! After rinsing the bleach, I almost had a heart attack. My hair was yellow, white, orange, and some parts were still brown! (I’m way too embarrassed to post pics.) It was such a disaster. At first I was like,”ohhhh shhiiiiitttt”, completely in shock, then that turned into fear, “oh my god, I can’t go in public like this!”, then strangely, it turned into a disturbing laugh, almost like this. I resorted to hiding in my scoodie until I could come up with a plan.

So on Saturday, I re-bleached my hair - which is not recommended! Then I used Manic Panic’s Virgin Snow (toner) and that fixed up the mess a little bit, but it was still very yellow. I decided I looked absolutely ridiculous and it didn’t suit my skin tone or dark features whatsoever. The result was a cross between Madonna from the 80’s and Bert from Sesame Street - yeah, not cool. So there was only one way to cover the mess - dye over it, again. I spent ages on the net trying to find a shop close by that sells Manic Panic hair dye. You would not believe how much of a struggle that was! I ventured out in public, paranoid everyone was looking at the strange lady with the strange hair, and could only find Rusk Scream Rage Red hair dye (have you heard of that brand? I sure hadn’t). I came home and thought I’d found a cure, but no, I was wrong. It turned my hair into a faded pinky/red, kind of like this but worse. (Do not buy Rusk Scream hair dye, you’ll be disappointed.) By now, my hair had been through a lot and I was so worried that any more chemicals would fry it even more.

Sunday - After foot-stomping tantrums and a few prayers (”please god, help me! My hair is dire need of a divine intervention. Let thy locks be bless’ed!”), I found a place who sold Manic Panic hair dye - big fat yay! It was the very cool and funky Victorian Gothic Coulture store that saved the day. So, after all that fretting and worrying, my prayers were answered. I chose Vampire Red, left it in for 2 hours with my hair wrapped in plastic wrap, and here is the finished result!

Redheads Do It Better

So happy! Yeah, so that was my weekend - completely focused on hair! How was yours?

Big love,
