Redheads Do It Better
I wanted to dye my hair white for quite some time now, and I decided to embark on the journey last weekend. This is how it went; Friday - I bleached all of my hair. You would not believe how fast that stuff works and how dry my hair became! After rinsing the bleach, I almost had a heart attack. My hair was yellow, white, orange, and some parts were still brown! (I’m way too embarrassed to post pics.) It was such a disaster. At first I was like,”ohhhh shhiiiiitttt”, completely in shock, then that turned into fear, “oh my god, I can’t go in public like this!”, then strangely, it turned into a disturbing laugh, almost like this. I resorted to hiding in my scoodie until I could come up with a plan.
So on Saturday, I re-bleached my hair - which is not recommended! Then I used Manic Panic’s Virgin Snow (toner) and that fixed up the mess a little bit, but it was still very yellow. I decided I looked absolutely ridiculous and it didn’t suit my skin tone or dark features whatsoever. The result was a cross between Madonna from the 80’s and Bert from Sesame Street - yeah, not cool. So there was only one way to cover the mess - dye over it, again. I spent ages on the net trying to find a shop close by that sells Manic Panic hair dye. You would not believe how much of a struggle that was! I ventured out in public, paranoid everyone was looking at the strange lady with the strange hair, and could only find Rusk Scream Rage Red hair dye (have you heard of that brand? I sure hadn’t). I came home and thought I’d found a cure, but no, I was wrong. It turned my hair into a faded pinky/red, kind of like this but worse. (Do not buy Rusk Scream hair dye, you’ll be disappointed.) By now, my hair had been through a lot and I was so worried that any more chemicals would fry it even more.
Sunday - After foot-stomping tantrums and a few prayers (”please god, help me! My hair is dire need of a divine intervention. Let thy locks be bless’ed!”), I found a place who sold Manic Panic hair dye - big fat yay! It was the very cool and funky Victorian Gothic Coulture store that saved the day. So, after all that fretting and worrying, my prayers were answered. I chose Vampire Red, left it in for 2 hours with my hair wrapped in plastic wrap, and here is the finished result!
So happy! Yeah, so that was my weekend - completely focused on hair! How was yours?
Big love,

by the way that red against your skin tone is great. (no wonder, since you got it in a goth store!) it makes you look really fair, which i like!

How very fetching!
Red hair (or any other bright-ish colour for that matter!) is a complete no-go zone for me - I have really dark features and am quite tanned (my grandfather is Fijian), so I would just end up looking wrong, wrong, wrong! You look adorable. Love the flower, too.

You poor dear! Your hair-dying experience sounds much like the wild rides I used to go on with my hair… you’re lucky you still have hair!
Although, I must say it was worth it… you look positively stunning!

gilda - Haha, I know, I know… if I had the money I would’ve had a professional do it, but it costs WAY too much on a student’s budget. (I think it was like $3-400??) And yeah, I look like a goth now!! I like it too though
.
Cait - Aw, thanks! I tell you what though, I did have the “omg everyone’s going to think I’m a freak” thing at first but you get used to it, lol. Anyone can get used to it, even you, toots!
.
x Miss Corrine x - Now that you mentioned it, I can see the Fijian features in you. Thank your gramps, cos you do have beautiful skin, you know! Maybe an electric blue would suit you..? Or purple!! Yes, try purple!

Wow that colour is soooo pretty on you! Is it really like firemen-red or is it (it looks like that) more pinkish red?
And bleach-horrors are awfull, you at least figured out straight away that the yellow-hair wasn’t for you.. I for the other hand thought it was okay but if i look back at the pictures now i just cringe.. (Thinking i looked like a cute drew-barrymore-with-fake-blonde-&-curls i looked more like a blonde clown… mmmm) And yay for Manic Panic! I’ve had Flaming, Enchanted Forest, Midnight Blue, Hot Hot Pink, Green Envy,.. mmmh and i love Special Effects’s FishBowl oooh now i miss my crazy hair colours!

MYOFMC - Why thank you!
.
Scrange - Do it, do it, do it! If you do, I want photos. Please
.
amika - Aww, shucks, thank you! I think it’s more of a fireman red, it’s just it’s brightest when in the sun (like in the pic).
LOL, I sooooo wanna see these Drew Barrymore ‘look-a-like’ photos. It’s okay though, we’ve all been there, and in a couple years I’ll probably cringe at my red hair! And yes! Special Effects’ fishbowl is awesome! Would’nt suit me, but the colour is diviiiiiine.
