I’ve always loved the mystical side of life. Astrology, tarot reading, palmistry, clairvoyants, and other magical and esoteric shenanigans have always consumed my attention.

I’ve been a fan of astrology since I was about 7 years old and I don’t know why as my family thinks it’s a bunch of bs. But while Johnny and Sarah were playing Doctors and Nurses, I was reading my horoscope - I know, it’s odd, isn’t it. Now when I meet someone, the second question I ask them, after “Hi, how are you?” is, “Are you a Piscean…?” I just hope they don’t see the question as a pick-up line!

Whether you believe in astrology or not, you have to admit it’s quite fun to read your proposed character traits or the ones of your family and friends. There is always the nature versus nurture debate so don’t take it too seriously. You are more unique than a star sign or Mayan number! Having said that, astrology can guide us into the right direction and maybe even help us become more aware of who we are.

Even though it’s much more straight forward, Mayan astrology is one of the branches of astrology that isn’t as popular as Western or Chinese, or even Indian astrology. Which is a shame because it’s built on such a beautiful and rich history. I think the most publicity the Mayans have received is from their calendar which “ends” in the year 2012. Which some people think marks the end of the world (what ever that means…) or a great shift in consciousness. (It actually doesn’t “end”, it just marks the end of a cycle.)
