Don’t Ignore The Games Controller When Deciding On Computer Games Systems
We are all familiar with the most popular computer video games consoles that have become such a normal part of our daily lives. We make comparisons between the three systems and decide which is best based on graphics ability but it is also important to consider the benefits of the games controllers available.
Controller design is something the manufacturers spend a lot of time on design so we can take a look and see which we prefer. The Xbox first appeared back in 2001 and the controller that came as part of the bundle supplied is referred to as the duke controller.
It turned out that Microsoft got it wrong and the controller supplied was just too big so they didn’t enjoy playing the Xbox so much. Very quickly they changed the controller for the Controller S a model that is very similar to the 360 controller you get today.
The controller they supply now is the best for comfort in your hand and may be the most convenient to use. The Playstation 3 controller while it may look a little different is not as different as you might think.
It is not totally disimilar to the controller for the PS2 with a couple of internal changes. When it first came out there was another controller supplied was more revolutionary but the changed control scheme was abandoned.
There seems little doubt that the reason was that the controller didn’t work as well as the established PS2 controller. The right descision may have been made in the end but Sony will have to get it right preparing their next new games system whenever that is due.
There is nothing basically wrong with the current system but gamers are going to want more when they come out with new ideas. Businesses are struggling right now so it may be we will have to wait some time before gamers get what they want.
Finally we look at the controllers we get with the Wii games system and these have introduced a lot of new people to games consoles. Something totally different was included with the wii bundle and the wiimote was so different it was hard to make a comparison with everything you thought you knew about games controls.
The designers were thinking outside the box with the wiimote with a novel than anything we had seen before or had thought about as ways that you interact with the characters on screen. They are more advanced than anything else we have seen introduced on games systems in the last two decades.
Technology sometimes puts cleverness over customer appreciation but here it is being used to add to your enjoyment and it has the potential to take gaming to a whole new level. When the Wii bundles were first released hardened gamers dismissed the power of the computer chips inside but they failed to notice what a significant change the wii brought with it’s controllers.
It will be fascinating to discover whatever the eighth generation of and if price is no problem these are the ones to get. It seems likely they will be similar to the wiimote and they could be completely different to what we expect.
